David Bryan Harris, 31, of Raleigh, formerly of Cove City, entered into
eternal rest on Friday, July 27, 2007 at his residence. Homegoing
will be held on Thursday, August 02, 2007 at 2:00 PM in Bryant Chapel
A.M.E. Zion Church, Cove City, with the Rev. Brian T. Cornelius,
Officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at White
Cemetery, Cove City.
David was born in Lenoir County and reared in the Cove City Community
Rocky Mount, North Carolina. David joined Bryant Chapel A.M.E. Zion
at an early age. While in high school at Northern Nash Senior High,
excelled in music, specifically percussion instruments. During his
year in high school, David auditioned and was invited to join the
Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. He attended and graduated from North
A&T University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer
Following college, David settled in the Raleigh-Durham area and was
employed with AT&T as a Network Engineer. In his spare time, David was
avid painter and continued to pursue his musical interest, supporting
Carolina Thunder Percussion Ensemble, composing and teaching music to
David will be forever cherished by: his loving parents, Jesse Harris,
and Alcester Bryant Harris both of Garner; 1 BROTHER, Jesse Harris, Jr.
Knightdale; his Grandmother, Sylvia B. Ellis of Bronx, New York; his
Godmother, Janie B. Dillahunt of New Bern; 4 AUNTS, Janie B. Spellman,
Jacqueline B. Walston, Jerlene Kale and Wilkie Harris; 2 UNCLES, Alonzo
Walston and Albert Harris; 9 GREAT-AUNTS, Evelyn Lawhorn, Peggy
Frances Lawhorn, Vivian Harris, Addie Harris, Pat Harris, Hazel B.
Sudie B. McConnor and Virginia B. Dunn; 7 GREAT-UNCLES, James McConnor,
Randolph Lawhorn, John Neal, Lonnie Harris, Charles Harris, Gerald
and Robert Dunn; 4 GREAT-GREAT AUNTS, Gertrude Bryant, Adele Chappell,
Claudine Boone and Hildred Green; 3 GREAT-GREAT UNCLES, Herbert Green,
James Bryant and Cliff Chappell and a host of cousins, other relatives,
co-workers, classmates and beloved friends.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 01, 2007, at Rivers-Morgan
Funeral Home, Inc., 701 West Street, New Bern, from 2-8 PM and on
at the church one hour prior to the service.
His remains are resting peacefully at Morgan Funeral Home, Inc.,
