Harold Lee Kenyear, 85, of 1111 Fulcher Lane, New Bern, entered into
eternal rest on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence.
As a lifetime member of Star of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Harold
served as President of the Sunday School, member of both the Trustee and
Deacon Boards and in numerous other capacities within the church. He was
Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 3rd District of the Masonic
Order, serving locally in the George B. Willis Lodge #423. He was employed
with Civil Service for over 30 years aboard Marine Corp Air Station Cherry
Point and was a decorated member of the United States Navy.
Harold will be forever cherished by: his BELOVED WIFE of 62 years, Janie
Murphy Kenyear of the home; 1 SON, Eric Kenyear (Debra) of New Bern; 1
DAUGHTER, Stephanye Kenyear of Greenville; 5 GRANDCHILDREN; 6
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; 2 BROTHERS-IN-LAW, Earl "A.C." Murphy (Ellen) of the
Pembroke Community, New Bern and William Murphy (Glenda) of East Orange,
New Jersey; 2 SISTERS-IN-LAW, Mary Murphy and Barbara Murphy both of
Chicago; and a host of NEPHEWS, NIECES, COUSINS, other relatives and dear
friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 6-8:00 PM in the
Memorial Chapel of Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, Inc., 701 West Street, New
Bern, where the ritualistic service will be performed at 7:00 PM by the
George B. Willis Masonic Lodge #423. All other times the family will be
receiving their friends and guest at the residence.
Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 12 Noon in the
St. Peters A.M.E. Zion Church, 617 Queen Street, New Bern, with the Rev.
Robert N. Kelley, Sr., Pastor, Officiating and the Rev. Kareem Buck,
Eulogist. Interment with military honors will immediately follow the
service in the Cedar Grove Extension Cemetery.
Harold's earthly remains are resting peacefully in the care, comfort and
serenity of Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, Inc., New Bern (252)637-5141.
