Lillie Washington - August 2, 2010

Lillie Jewel Newkirk Washington, 76, of Jacksonville, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

She was an active member of St. Julia A.M.E. Zion Church for over 55 years where she previously served on the Usher Board. She was a member of the Golden Circle and Past Worthy Matron of Eccelsior Chapter #305 Order of the Easter Star, Jacksonville.

Jewel will be forever cherished by: 2 SONS, Lemuel "Woody" Washington and Billy Ray Washington both of Jacksonville; 1 DAUGHTER, Angelia Jewel Washington of Jacksonville; 1 GRANDSON, Isaiah Alexander Washington of Jacksonville; 3 BROTHERS, Rufus Newkirk (Cheryl) of Jacksonville and Willie James Newkirk (Maureen) and Rev. Larry Darnell Newkirk (Anita) both of Baltimore, Maryland; 3 SISTERS, Delois Rouse, Edna Hardy and Belinda Palmer all of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of NEPHEWS, NIECES, COUSINS, other relatives and dear friends.

Private Family Viewing and Visitation will be held on Friday.

Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the St. Julia A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Erlinda C. Dobson, Pastor, Officiating. Interment will take place on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville.
