Carey Hargett, Sr. - June 11, 2010
Carey Hargett, Sr., 80, of Cove City, entered into eternal peace on
Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville,
with loving family members by his side.
He was a lifelong resident of Cove City and attended the Craven County
Public Schools. He was employed for over 40 years with Warmack Lumber
Company, Inc., of Cove City as a truck driver. He was a lifetime member of
Bryant Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where he formerly served as Preacher's
Steward for 16 years.
Carey will be forever cherished by: his wife of 50 years, Helen Grace
Harris Hargett of the home; 2 SONS, CW3 (retired Army) Carey Hargett, Jr.
(Chris) of Centerville, Maryland and Magistrate Cedric Hargett (Marsha) of
Cove City; 2 DAUGHTERS, Betty Yvonne Mackey (James) and Rev. Cynthia
Hargett both of Cove City; 7 GRANDCHILDREN; 1 GREAT-GRANDCHILD; 3
BROTHERS, Charlie Hargett, Bert Wilson, Jr. and George Wilson, Sr.
(Dorothy) all of Cove City; 1 SISTER, Leatha Mae Hargett (James) of Cove
City; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 6-7PM at
Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, Inc., 701 West Street, New Bern. All other
times, friends and guest will be received at 1510 Upcreek Road, Cove City.
The final viewing will be held on Wednesday at the church one hour prior
to the service.
Homegoing Service will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM in
the Bryant Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. Brian T. Cornelius,
Pastor, Officiating and the Rev. Cynthia Hargett, Eulogist. Interment will
immediatley follow the service in the Hargett Family Cemetery.
Carey's earthly remains are resting peacefully in the care, comfort and
